Open the Timer from the sidebar (on a phone, the Timer button at the top), choose a project and a section (a task is optional) and press "Start Timer". Press "Stop Timer" when you finish.
Yes. Download a project's time logs as a JSON file from Settings → Preferences, or with the Export button on the project's Time Logs tab.
